About the Artist Matt Moerman-Guitar .........Implant started in San Luis Obispo in October of 1995. Ryan Krupnick (guitar) had just left the band "No Remorse" and was looking to get something else started. He asked Seth Price (Drums), who he worked with at the time, if he was interested in getting a band started. From there they picked up Matt Moerman (guitar) , who also worked with them and went to highschool with Seth. They began searching for a bass player and picked up Beau Price (Seth's older brother). Although he had not been playing long, he was a solid player with a lot of creativity and filled the spot perfectly. At this point Implant had found their sound musically but was in need of a vocalist. This was to be their problem for the next two years. They went through four singers in two years. They were all talented and down for the cause but were not quite right. Implant released a self titled CD in 1996 with their second singer but changed singers before it was even released. This left them with an un! representative product and a broke bank roll. They continued on with two other singers until they were introduced to Ben Ofstead of Primal Tribe (local Santa Barbara band) by Implants former manager, Rob Potter. Ben jammed with the band a few times and decided to move to San Luis Obispo to join the band full time. Ben was just the frontman Implant was looking for. They quickly recorded a 2 song demo to back themselves and began playing shows more frequently (mainly in the Central Coast and Southern California). Things were coming together when Beau decided to leave the band to have more time for artwork and tatooing. Everyone was bummed because Beau was a major part of the band and they finally seemed to be getting everything together, but there were no bad vibes. They found a bass player shortly thereafter. Johnny Montanio was doing booking for them at the time and decided to step in and play bass full time for Implant. Johnny had a lot of previous band experience so he came ! up to speed quickly and added his own flavor to the bands sound. Then, in June, 1999, the band headed up to Concord, Ca. to record a 7 song EP at Trident Studios (in 3 days!). Now with a solid line-up and an EP to represent them, they're ready to get rolling. Implant has stayed away from the down tuned sound of many hardcore groups, achieving their heavy/chunky sound in "E". Ben's vocals consist of a variety of throatiness, melodic singing, and stints of frantic/psychotic spoken words. In the past Implant has played with the likes of Downset, Coal Chamber, Machinehead, Spineshank, Fear Factory, Papa Roach, Static-X, Juice and Manhole, among others, and they hope to keep heading in that direction. Implant has dealt with a lot of drama (changing members, starting over musically, bad recordings, lack of money and shady characters), but have kept going for a reason; they're down for what they're doing!
